Dressed to Death was started just over six years ago with the premise of exploring the philosophies of fashion and style, while advocating for timeless, individual self-expression- as opposed to merely following the fleeting trends of fashion. Dressed to Death is officially being relaunched with an added concept that ties together (an unintentional pun) quite a few things that I am passionate about… and that added concept is Maskerade.
The first face mask that I made was for my husband, and after speaking with different family members who are healthcare workers that continued to work throughout the “Safer at Home” order, I quickly realized that I needed to make QUITE a few more. Some have had to utilize them as their sole source of protection, while others have used them as an “additional” layer of protection over their N95 masks. Not only has making face masks rekindled my love of design and sewing, but it has given me an overwhelming amount of gratitude to know that I can help my friends and family members by keeping them (and all those that they are around) safe.
With the correct usage, face masks have a remarkable ability to help slow the spread of the COVID-19… and they can quite literally save lives. Plain and simple.
I firmly believe that face masks will play a very large part in our lives for a substantial amount of time, so I decided, why not express your individual sense of style in the process? Every day that you wake up, you make a conscious decision to choose what you’re going to wear and whether or not you think you care about a “sense of style”, those conscious decisions identify what “speaks to you”, and inherently identify your own individual sense of style. So whether it be a vibrant pop of color for spring/summer, a simple (yet timeless) black mask that is versatile, or a patterned option that adds a spirited statement, choose what speaks to you.
Wash your hands. Stay beautiful. Stay safe.
